What Matters the Most Online?

Anyone working in the online world feels the constant weight of social media.  The numbers, the traffic, the views, the tweet machine, the algorithms! Gah! Will we EVER conquer the algorithms? Will we EVER feel like we are doing it all successfully and be satisfied with where we are at??

For many of us, this is our job. So as jobs go, we make the to-do lists and set the goals and hustle ourselves on every possible platform that we can remember our password to.

But sometimes it feels defeating. It feels overwhelming.

When it does, we need to really ask ourselves this. What matters about our online life?

In twenty years when they are digging up iPhones in highschool time capsules and our children are starting support groups for ‘Children of Mom Bloggers Anonymous’, what will still matter?

I’ll tell you.

It is why we started this network.

It really is why we are all here.

People matter. Connections matter. Relationships matter. Community matters.

We can’t be isolated in our own bubble of profile screens and likes and pageviews. We can’t be successful and supported without each other. We can’t possibly keep up with the perpetuity of change in social media. So let’s not break our backs trying.

While we are all here, sharing this online space, let’s be part of something bigger than one.

Let’s be part of a community. Let’s stop trying to spread ourselves so thinly over this online space. Let’s not skim, let’s dive in. Let’s focus in on where we can provide the best services, engage in the most meaningful ways, make the best connections, make an impact, and simply enjoy our online life.

Let’s just be still for a moment and enjoy the company of each other.  Be supportive, be connected.

Because people are what matter most online.
